Baby Formula Lawsuits

Keilty Bonadio is investigating claims related to the use of Similac and Enfamil infant formula products that were fed to pre-term infants.  These products have been known to increase the likelihood of developing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) or inflammation of the intestines that can cause severe injury or death.  Low birth weight premature babies often need a human milk fortifier if they are fed mother's milk or donor milk.  There are two types of these fortifiers, 1) derived from cow's milk and 2) derived from human milk.  Studies have shown for decades that human milk is safer and lowers the risk of NEC.  If the mother is unable to provide her own milk, donor milk is often available.  The product labels do not provide warnings, guidelines or instructions regarding possible NEC risk. Hospitals and NICUs now use these products to supplement infant feedings, either in place of or along with breastfeeding.
